My iPod Mini and new iPod Accessories

I am sure many of you know that iPod is Apple’s wildly popular mid-sized music player and a craze all over the USA. I came to know about it in October 2004 when I was browsing through Apple's website and I was instantly fascinated by its charm. Did some research on it and read the reviews on different sites and I was all for it.

I got the iPod through my cousin who was coming to India in December 2004. I asked him to buy me a iPod (standard 20Gig) but got iPod Mini (first gen) but its fine and I am really enjoying it.

In India iPod Mini is still considered as an expensive MP3 Player and costs around (Rs. 18,000) and I am yet to see it in many hands yet. Inorder to make it look "myIPod" I got my company logo and name embossed on it and its really looking great.

After I got the iPod Apple released the 2nd Generation in Feb 2005 iPod with vastly improved Battery Life (18hrs) where as my version just have 8 hours (my just runs 6.5 hours)

Initially after spending good money on iPod I wanted more out of it so this Summer I got an iPod Dock and Apple's In-Ear HeadPhones and I can tell you that once you start listening on the in-ear headphones you wont like the ordinary one.

After using my iPodMini for quite sometime here is my take on what should have been better in iPod

a) While the iPod is a nice product, it's nowhere near perfect. The first issue is batteries. If you use an iPod regularly and as intended (which I do), you'll very quickly wonder where the replaceable battery is. I just get scared if anything goes wrong with the battery as we do not have a service center in India for an iPod :(

b) The iPod doesnt allow me to use different machines to upload my music to iPod. As I work both from Office as well as home it doesn't allows me to add files from both locations through iPod. There is some Authorization required.

c) A third issue is quality. If you use an iPod heavily, be prepared to protect it with some sort of soft, protective housing. The touchpad wheel catches dust very fast. Since my cousin was smart he got the protective housing when he got the iPod for me so till date its scratch free.

Well got one great news too that iTunes 4.9 has got the Podcasting inbuilt so that I can get my favorite podcasts straight from iTunes instead of using other softwares like iPodder.

Will update this page with my Favorite Podcasts soon as now I have to go out with family to a "Bhajan Sandhya" program.

Cheers,
Vijay
